What Moves Come Next?

Hello OPP. With the draft over and Player Options decided, I wanted to do a FanPost on the state of the Orlando Magic's salary situation and see what potential moves could be made to round out the roster. If the season started today, the Magic would have a rotation of:

Starters: Fultz/Fournier/Gordon/Aminu/Vucevic

Bench: Anthony/Ross/Okeke/Birch

Injured: Bamba/Issac

That leaves the roster at 11 players that take up around 120 million dollars of cap space. According to Woj, the estimated salary cap will be 109 million with a luxury line of 132 million. Based on everything we know about the Magic's front office, I think it's safe to assume that they have no desire to pay the luxury tax, so that would leave the Magic with 12 million dollars to play with in free agency via the MLE and the Biannual Exception.

Until it actually happens, I'm not expecting the Magic to make any trades. Is it an overreaction? Probably, but it appears Weltman values his team more than other GM's. That leaves the Magic with Free Agency to add to the team

Internal Options

Wes Iwundu

Gary Clark

Melvin Frasier

Michael Carter-Williams

Of this group, I could see Iwundu, Clark, and MCW coming back. I would not give more than the minimum to them though. For predictions sake, let's say two of this group comes back for a total hit of 3.5 million.

External Options

Rodney Hood

Jordan Clarkson

Bryn Forbes

Chris Chiozza

Alec Burks

Langston Galloway

Trey Burke

Glen Robinson II

Austin Rivers

These are just some guys that I would look into. If I were the GM, I would try to get Hood, Forbes or Robinson. The Magic could offer someone up to 9 million if they really like them, but I'm thinking the most they can offer one player is 6 million.

So how would everyone else fill out their rosters? Free Agency starts on Friday!
