If you’ve ever wanted to express your fondness for Marreese Speights and the Orlando Magic simultaneously, here’s your chance.
At his website, Speights is now offering a series of tees with some Magic flair. There are some inspired designs, though I’m partial to the Interstate-4 logo one and this one featuring the Orlando skyline with the word “MO,” in a Magic font, underneath. Each tee is priced fairly reasonably at $19.99.
Since the Magic signed him in July, Speights, a St. Petersburg native and University of Florida product, has made no secret of how thrilled he is to play for his hometown team. “It’s just a blessing to be here,” he told Orlando Sentinel scribe Josh Robbins. “I never thought I’d be playing for my home team.”
Speights figures to open the season backing up Nikola Vucevic and Bismack Biyombo at center, and his newfound three-point shooting range may enable him to play alonside one of them as a power forward in certain situations.
In his nine-year NBA career, Speights has posted averages of 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
