The Magic committed 16 turnovers in the first half in their win against Cleveland on Friday, but only two after halftime.

Down by six points at the end of the first half on Friday, the Orlando Magic, now 5-7, never conceded in their 108-104 grind-out victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. One of the biggest adjustments was cutting down their turnovers, from 16 in the first half to just two in the second. During the first half, the Magic outshot the Cavs, 47.2 percent to 44.4 percent, but the Cavaliers led due to their 21 points off Orlando's turnovers and 13 second-chance points.

Magic coach Jacque Vaughn shared a few words about how simple it was and should be for the Magic to take care of the ball and execute plays in the second half:

"It's that simple of first recognizing that we're putting ourselves in a hole because of the turnovers." Vaughn said. "That we can execute and get shots, quality shots like we did in the first half, but you're digging yourself a hole with those turnovers. So, it's just recognition and then just making the simple and easy play. That's it."

Shooting guard Arron Afflalo echoed Vaughn's earlier statement about the Magic's slow start:

"A big part of it was how you start the game off so I take a lot of responsibility for coming out with a few careless turnovers." Afflalo said. "Those type of things are just as contagious. So when we came in at the half, we saw that [the Cavs'] offensive rebounding and turnovers equated to almost 66% of their points. We felt that if we take care of our turnovers and do our best to keep them off the offensive glass, we will have a better [second] half."

Ultimately, it was J.J. Redick who prevented the Magic from facing overtime or defeat. Redick sealed the win by shooting 8-of-8 from the foul line in the final minute.

"It's a luxury [to have Redick]." Vaughn said. "I've said it before that when he shoots the basketball, when he has it in his hands, I think good things are going to happen. And I felt he was going to make every free throw and inbounders did a great job of executing and getting the ball to him, our screeners got him open and he made the free throws."

Orlando had to grind its way back into the game with hustle and hard work. During the Magic's rally, forward Glen Davis dove into the stands to save the Magic's possession after point guard Jameer Nelson missed a jumper.

See the hustle play here:

Coach Vaughn expressed his concerns during the post game presser about Davis soaring into the crowd last night.

"I was worried." Vaughn said. "That was a few rows into the crowd and you don't know he's at the mercy of seats and elbows and someone could be playing with their keys and he stabs his arm into someone's car keys, you never know what's going to happen, how life is at that critical moment. But I love the hustle, so if he wants to do it again, he can do it again as long as he comes up pain-free and hurt free, I'll take it."

Fortunately for Orlando, Davis didn't appear to sustain injuries after the incident. He stressed the importance of beating the Cavs trumped any concern he had about injuring himself.

"It's important especially because it's a five-game homestretch." Davis said. "We need to get as much games as possible and try to get back to .500 and compete for the chance to be somewhere in the post-season and also for our confidence and our young guys to make sure that they learn and understand what we have to do to take the win."

The Magic held on to top Cleveland on Friday, 108-104.

The Orlando Magic rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Black Friday, 108-104, improving their record to 5-7 overall and 4-2 at Amway Center, and they did so with a brilliant offensive outing. The Magic sank a season-high 11 three-point baskets to post their highest effective field-goal percentage of the season, leading to their second-most efficient offensive performance of the year overall.

Orlando needed every one of those threes, because Cleveland went bonkers offensively as well, meeting or exceeding their season averages in all four factors. Veteran center Anderson Varejão hauled in 11 offensive rebounds, helping the visiting Cavaliers to grab more than 40 percent of their own misses. It was Varejão's third game with at least 10 offensive rebounds on the year, his third such performance. Kenneth Faried of the Denver Nuggets is the only other player to have another such game.

The Magic committed turnovers on 20 percent of their possessions, the lone blemish in a great offensive night for them. However, they turned the ball over just twice in an estimated 44 possessions in the second half.

Head coach Jacque Vaughn made sure J.J. Redick had the ball in his hands with 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter as he is obviously the Magic's best free-throw shooter (shooting 87.1-percent for the season). Had he not hit all eight critical free-throws down the stretch, the Magic could have potentially faced an overtime situation based on how the Cavaliers were playing. Redick committed two turnovers in the first half and the Magic trailed by twelve early. But he was able to make up for those errors by finishing with 18 points and six assists.

Jameer Nelson relentlessly attacked the basket and knocked down 4-of-8 three-pointers on 50-percent shooting overall. But it wasn't just Nelson who gave the Magic an offensive boost: Arron Afflalo scored 19 points and also knocked down a crucial 24-footer at the 1:57 mark of the fourth giving the Magic 98-94 lead. He was efficient from the field and from downtown making 7-of-12 attempts overall and 4-of-8 on threes.

Three other Magic players joined Nelson, Redick, and Afflalo in double-digits Friday. Glen Davis contributed 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Nikola Vucevic also grabbed eight rebounds (four on offense) and scored 10 points.

What the Magic did right though was reduce their turnovers from an astounding 16 in the first half to just two in the second half. Those 16 turnovers were a combination of bad entry passes, perimeter passes and offensive fouls. Referees Scott Foster, Brian Forte and Violet Palmer all whistled 54 personal fouls Friday.

Another positive note for the Magic was they shot 50 perecent from the field and made 11-of-21 three-point attempts. Because Orlando nailed at least 10 threes, Magic fans who attended Friday's game can redeem their ticket stubs for a free taco at Tijuana Flats on Saturday. Hooray for tacos.

The Magic, who are now 4-2 at home, will face the Boston Celtics this Sunday at 6 PM.

The Cavaliers, minus Kyrie Irving, visit the Magic at Amway Center this Black Friday.

The Orlando Magic continue their longest homestand of the season Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tipoff is set for 7 PM Eastern on Fox Sports Florida in the Orlando market. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will appear at 5 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.

The Cavs find themselves without franchise point guard Kyrie Irving, the reigning Rookie of the Year, as the Duke product has a broken index finger on his left hand and will miss a month. Nobody expected Cleveland to compete with only Donald Sloan and Jeremy Pargo at point guard, but it has: Pargo scored 28 points in his first game starting in Irving's place, helping the Cavs end their six-game losing streak on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Orlando also won Wednesday night, defeating the Detroit Pistons by a 90-74 final to open their homestand. The Pistons shot 8-of-44 in the second half.
