This time around, there aren’t very many mean tweets. Or punchlines. Or viral memes.
Twitter’s reaction to the Orlando Magic selecting UNC’s Cole Anthony with the 15th pick in the draft was overwhelmingly positive. The reason for that is simple:
The Magic drafted a guard. A guard who can score!
Wingspan, length and defensive ability weren’t the top priorities in this draft for the Magic, who made a selection based simply on need. That, along with Cole’s upside, satisfied a majority of the fanbase.
The tweets, as always, speak for themselves...

Cole Anthony was #2 in the ESPN150 coming out of high school. Yes, his stock took a big hit - but this is a swing for the fences that isn't a huge gamble outside of the lottery.
— Orlando Pinstriped Post (@OPPMagicBlog) November 19, 2020
When asked if being drafted 15th will drive him, Cole Anthony said: "I'm going to be honest with you: I don't think there's 14 people in this draft who are better than me. So that drives me every day. ... I want to be judged by my team play. I want every team I'm on to win."

I don't know a ton about Cole Anthony but I do know he's the greatest basketball player of his era.

If you told me last year the Orlando Magic would be drafting Cole Anthony I would’ve assumed we had a top 3 pick

Did someone tie up Hammond and Weltman and make this pick? We're excited!!
— Orlando Magic Reddit (@ORLMagicReddit) November 19, 2020
#Magic finally take a shot on a guard. Cole Anthony had a knee injury at UNC and tried to carry one of the worst tar heel teams in years. He wasn't efficient but he's a born scorer and a top HS prospect. This is a guy that could be a star and bucks Weltmans draft trend

I honestly think the last time i was his happy for @OrlandoMagic draft pick was when they drafted Howard in I think 2004.

It feels like this pick fills a big need for Orlando and also gives the franchise a player who has more upside than he showed in college. @OPPMagicBlog https://t.co/s3nEgYOhEO pic.twitter.com/U19L2zFReG

The Cole Anthony pick says absolutely zero about Markelle Fultz in my eyes. We constantly complain that we don’t have enough shot creators, we just got one of the best in this draft.
