For a Magic team coming off a season in which they made a 17-win improvement, finished over .500, won a division title, and made it to the playoffs for the first time in seven years, there has been some added intrigue surrounding the schedule release.
We now know that we are 72 days away from Orlando Magic regular season basketball!

The schedule was released on Monday and the Magic will kick off the 2019-2020 season at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 23. That breaks a three-year streak of opening the season against the Heat at home (the Magic are 2-1 in those games).
It’s the start of a home-friendly schedule to open the season, with nine of the Magic’s first 13 games being played in Orlando.
The Magic have a five-game homestand from November 8 to November 17, hosting Memphis, Indiana, Philadelphia, San Antonio and Washington. Their longest road trip of the season will be from January 10 to January 20 as they visit Phoenix, Sacramento, Los Angeles for back-to-back games against the Lakers and Clippers, Golden State and Charlotte.
The Magic, who had 17 back-to-back games last season, will have 11 sets of back-to-backs this season.
The Magic will play a total of 11 pairs of back-to-back games this season. That is a low number relative to the rest of the league. The average number of back-to-backs per team is 12.4. ... The Magic's 11 back-to-backs are their lowest total in at least 19 seasons.— Josh Robbins (@JoshuaBRobbins) August 12, 2019
The Magic close the season by playing five of seven games in April on the road. They close out the season on April 15 against the Toronto Raptors.
As for nationally televised games, the Magic are getting little love, whcih is expected but still disappointing. Their lone nationally televised game will be on March 4 against the Miami Heat on ESPN.
