Two Players Breaking Magic All Time Stats

This season two Magic players have the opportunity to climb further up the Magic's all time stats lists, and are joining some pretty impressive company. Elfrid Payton and Nikola Vucevic have a chance to creep higher into Magic echelon (assuming they both survive the Feb 8th deadline), by excelling in their respective statistical categories of Assists and Offensive Rebounds.

Payton currently sits in 7th place all time in assists with 1,786. He sits 152 assists short of surpassing both Nick Anderson and Hedo Turkoglu for 5th place all time assists as a Magic player. This ends up being quite the achievement when you notice that spots 1-4 read as a who's who of best point guards in Magic history: 4. Penny 3. Darrell Armstrong 2. Scott Skiles 1. Jameer Nelson. At his current rate of dropping dimes this year (6.2 apg), he will break into the Top 5 in another 25 games, shortly before the conclusion of the regular season. E.P. also holds places in Magic lore in Assist percentage (2nd), Assists per game (3rd) and Steals per game (6th).

Nik Vucevic, on the other hand, actually sits higher in several Top 10 All Time Magic Stat leader slots already: Defensive Rebounds (2nd, ahead of Shaq), Total Rebounds (2nd behind Dwight), Blocks (5th), Field Goal % (5th), Points (9th), and currently 4th place in offensive rebounds with 1107. He sits 7 offensive rebounds back of passing the great Horace Grant into 3rd place, right behind both Supermen (Shaq and Dwight). Vooch is still returning from injury, and at his current season average of 1.8 offensive rpg he will have 3rd place wrapped up in less than 4 games.

While both players have been very polarizing in regards to their fit in the Magic' s current rebuild, respect/homage must still be given to both these relatively young players for putting their fingers all over the Orlando Magic' s record books.

So as the great David Steele and Jeff Turner say... Is this Anything? Comment below, Go Magic
