The Orlando Magic have officially announced the signing of Arron Afflalo.
“Arron adds experience and depth to our backcourt,” said Jeff Weltman, the Magic’s President of Basketball Operations. “He is an excellent shooter and a veteran that will help our young roster both on the court and in the locker room. We are excited to have Arron back in a Magic uniform.”
The 31-year-old Afflalo is familiar to Magic fans, having worn Orlando pinstripes for two seasons. He returns to the Magic after bouncing around the league over the last three seasons, during which he played for four teams, most recently the Sacramento Kings. There, he averaged 8.4 points and four rebounds per game on 44 percent shooting overall and 41.1 percent shooting on three-pointers.
At his Orlando peak, Afflalo averaged 18.2 points per game as a primary scoring option, but as his career has progressed he has become more of a situational player, a designated shooter with limited shot-creation skills.
