With a difficult stretch of games behind them, the 10-15 Orlando Magic return to the Amway Center on Wednesday to take on the 5-18 Hawks as they attempt to steady the ship.
The Magic have improved a bit after their nine-game losing streak, going .500 over their last four games against the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, and Golden State Warriors. Magic forward Aaron Gordon, powered by his 40-point outing against the Thunder, has played well over that stretch, averaging 23.3 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block per game over the last four.
Meanwhile, the Hawks come to town amidst a rebuilding season in which their only wins have come against the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and...Cleveland Cavaliers.
Though this seems like an easy win for the Magic on paper, a similarly struggling Chicago Bulls team strolled into the Amway Center earlier this season and came out with a 22-point win.
While the Hawks don't excel at many things, among them are steals (No. 5 in the league), three-point percentage (No. 6), and free throw percentage (No. 9). This could prove a challenging combo for a Magic team that struggled with turnovers in their most recent game – a loss to Charlotte.
Line: Magic -6.5 (OddsShark)
