Magic vs. Clippers GameThread

The short-handed Magic look to get back on track at home against the Clippers

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The show must go on. Next man up. A war of attrition.

All sports cliches apply tonight for the Magic inside the Amway Center as they take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

Orlando will be without starters Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier Wednesday night, as well as reserves Arron Afflalo and Jonathan Isaac. Terrence Ross has missed Orlando's last six games with a sprained right MCL as well.

Gordon suffered his concussion Friday night against the Nuggets. He remains in the league's mandatory concussion protocol.

"You always want to be cautious, especially if it is something to your head," Gordon said Monday after practice.

Fournier has missed Orlando's last two games due to a sprained ankle he suffered last Wednesaday against the Hawks.

Fournier was replaced in the starting lineup by Arron Afflalo, who is being held out tonight due to back spasms. Coach Frank Vogel announced before the game that rookie Wesley Iwundu will be starting in Afflalo's place.

Jonathan Isaac, who has missed Orlando's last sixteen games, is out again tonight recovering from his sprained right ankle. Vogel said that Isaac did some "one-on-one work today." The hope is that Isaac will begin participating in (a portion of) practice tomorrow.

Orlando has recalled Khem Birch from Lakeland for tonight's game. Birch, Adreian Payne, and Jamel Artis will all be available Wednesday against the Clippers.

Los Angeles last played Monday night at home against the Raptors, a game in which they prevailed 96-91. The Clippers enter tonight looking for their third straight win.

All-Star power forward Blake Griffin is of course out for the Clippers with a sprained MCL in his left knee. Forward Danilo Gallinari and point guard Patrick Beverley are also out with injuries.
