After suffering their first setback of the season last night in Brooklyn, the Orlando Magic are back on the court tonight in Ohio taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers. This will be the first of Orlando's eight back-to-back games in the '17-'18 season.
The Magic were defeated Friday night by the Brooklyn Nets in a high scoring affair, 126-121. The Nets were playing without starting guard Jeremy Lin, who went down with a gruesome ruptured patellar tendon injury in Brooklyn's first game. Orlando was without the services of starting forward Aaron Gordon, who hurt his ankle in Orlando's opener against the Heat.
The Magic lost Elfrid Payton during the second quarter of Friday night's game due to a hamstring injury. Per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Payton has been ruled out of tonight's game. The Magic have not made an announcement regarding Aaron Gordon's availability. He is listed as a "game-time decision."
Cleveland moved to 2-0 on the season last night with a 116-97 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Cavs will be playing once again without the services of guard Isaiah Thomas. To make matters worse, Derrick Rose, who had been filling in for Thomas as the team's starting point guard, went down Friday night with an ankle injury. ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin reported that Rose will miss tonight's game.
