Won't Happen But Would Be Magical

Hello Pinstripers, I know this is a difficult time. Team doesn't work. Roster looks dysfunctional. Then there are some of us that believe another discouraging trade is barring down on the organization and bound to happen anytime now. We armchair GMs all have our opinions on how it should go, right. Mine are such, to improve the roster and team we're gonna have to do the following things.

Overhaul!!!

Yes, that simple.

1. Overspend for a Star or potential "Star"

2. Accommodate team that needs balance as well

3. Find a little treasure in another's trash

4. While doing those 3, get younger more talented not older

5. If any expiring deals are remaining, use on aging vets to help Vogel mold what should be again a young talented team on the upward trajectory

It's not limited to just those acts but, you get it.

So...

1. Trade for LAVINE!!

Ibaka + Vuce + Payton For Lavine* + Rubio + J. Hill

Been on Lavine wagon since UCLA, Star in the making. He is who Vogel needs that you can compare to PG some. He and Gordon, franchise faces set.

Would need a big again. Next deal could go a couple different ways

2. Trade for J. Nurkic

Hezonja + Future pick? For J. Nurkic

Jusuf fits the description of sometimes strong defensive minded and presence and Vogel should enjoy that piece as well. Maybe see if W. Chandler is obtainable along with Nurkic. If not, cool.

3. Go get B. Knight out of his situation

J. Green expiring + Future pick? For B. Knight

Knight has gotten the short end of the stick many times. But he has done well in other moments. IMO He's better than his rep indicates. Also see if deal could involve J. Dudley in some way.

4. Getting Lavine and Nurkic perfectly fit AG timeline and both, more so Lavine, are ahead in production. Those 3, a guard, a forward, and a big would be a hard trio to deal with if they make the improvements one would think under Vogel.

5. Guys like W. Chandler or J. Dudley, DJ Augustine, J. Hill and maybe swing Rubio(not expiring I know)for one other young player and/or vet(76ers Henderson + Holmes come to mind)to help aid the growth of the new core

The look..

PG- B. Knight

SG- Z. Lavine

SF- A. Gordon

PF- B. Biyombo

C- J. Nurkic

Offensively, starting lineup has scoring punch at the guard positions, Nurkic has size and some scoring ability to bang in the post. Biyombo is limited offensively, but can be the designated screener and relentless on the offensive glass, creating extra and open shots for others. And Gordon is the engine that does a little of everything. Defensively, of course AG is the primary wing defender. Biyombo and Nurkic together should serve as a nice deterrence duo to anything inside the arch to the rim. Knight and Lavine possess the size and abilities to be effective team defenders at the least. Lineup could work other ways as well, like more shooting by putting Biyombo on the bench to begin and sliding Gordon to the 4 or starting Holmes. But the bench itself...

1. Augustine

2. Fournier / Henderson

3. Dudley / Henderson

4. Holmes

5. Hill

All bring experience off the bench except for the PF position, but Holmes should be complimentary next to AG, Biyombo, or Nurkic, with the ability to step out for the jumper and play(rebs, finishing) above the rim. Hill would get the least amount of time in this scenario. Augustine, Fournier, Dudley bring scoring off the bench with Evan leading the 6th man role.

The salary cap is in place. We have contracts expiring when others are up for extensions. We have young promising players, solid role players, and vets for leadership. Groom the two stars and I believe this team competes with ATL, IND, WAS, MIL for the 4th spot after CLE, TOR, BOS as early as next season. Team offers a lot of versatility. A small ball lineup I'd like to see

Lavine

Fournier

Dudley

Gordon

Holmes

Let's go Orlandooo, make some Magic! Sheesh!!!
