Every summer I make plans to learn something new or improve some aspect of my life. Learn German or French, how to play an instrument or something like that.
These summertime plans act like a daydream, they make you feel excited and optimistic.
The same process goes on for every team in the NBA. Whether its fresh rookies, trades, acquired free agents, all teams have something to look forward to in the next season (OK, except the Nets).
These projections are often unrealistic, and most of the times they don't come true - much like my summertime plans.
Progress in NBA does not come easy and does not come quick (barring superstar acquisitions). Things to have in mind are: new players need time to adjust to the system, new coaches need time to set their systems and rotations, injuries and underperforming of key players is a real thing.
Having in mind all the above, I would say Magic entering the playoffs in the 16-17 season would be a success for this team so mild optimism is in place (but beware of the summertime daydreaming).
Meanwhile, the Olympic basketball tournament is about to start and Mario Hezonja plays for the Croatian national team. Croatians played in a training tournament in Cordoba, and Mario played in 2 games. He scored 17 points against Argentina, although in a blowout loss, highlights can be seen here.
His most notable play against France was cursing the referee, mentioning his mother in the process. It should be said this kind of cursing is sort of usual in the Balkan region. The not-so-kind words can be seen and heard here.
It should be noted the Croatian national team does not have high expectations coming into the tournament, and going through to the knockout stage would be deemed a success. Mario will most likely play around 20-25 minutes, and as I will watch most of the games, I shall report any outstanding or subpar performances. Let's hope Croatia plays US in the knockout stage and we can see how Mario plays against the currently best team.
