The Orlando Magic, along with the rest of the NBA, announced their fully 2016/17 regular-season schedule Thursday. The complete schedule can be found on the Magic's official website. Here are the highlights of the schedule:
Opening night
The Magic will open their 28th season of action at home on October 26th against the Miami Heat. Tip time is 7:00PM Eastern.
Back-to-backs
After having 19 sets of back-to-back games last season, the Magic will have 15 this season. They breakdown like this:
- Away-to-away: eight
- Away-to-home: six
- Home-to-away: one
Homestands and roadtrips
The Magic’s longest homestand will span five games from February 15th- March 3rd, with the NBA’s week long All-Star break inbetween. Their longest roadtrip will be six games over 11 days from January 8th-18th.
Defending Champs
The Magic will face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers three times during the 2016/17 season. The first of two meetings in Cleveland will come on October 29th, with the second on April 4th. Their lone meeting in Orlando will be on March 11th.
Familiar Faces
Victor Oladipo, whom the Magic drafted second overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, will make his return to Orlando on March 29th with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Andrew Nicholson, the Magic’s first round pick in 2012, and Jason Smith will make two trips to Orlando this year with the Washington Wizards, the first coming November 5th, and the second November 25th.
Dewayne Dedmon, the high energy reserve center who showed flashes of brilliance with the Magic, will return with the San Antonio Spurs on February 15th.
