It was the 2011-2012 season. Steph Curry had just finished his second year and Klay Thompson was still a rookie. It was there last 20s win season total for a while. The next year (Steph's 3rd season) they added Barnes and Green in the draft mixed in with some key vets and won over 40 games (Steph's 3rd) ...the next season (Steph's 4th) won over 50 games! Season after that (Steph's 5th), CHAMPIONSHIP!

Steve Kerr came on board for the 2014-2015 season at a pivotal time in Curry's development. Mark Jackson would hide Curry's defensive warts by making Klay Thompson guard the other team's best guard. Jackson wanted Curry to focus on his offense. Kerr changed that. Kerr made Curry accountable offensively AND defensively. This made a better Curry. But more importantly, it made GS a better team! The move was so pivotal, GS started Kerr's first season with them 21-2!

Aaron Gordon finds himself in a similar situation, playing PF under Skiles and Vaughn in order to hide his offensive warts. We had Channing Frye. We had Ilyasova. We had Dedmon. AG put up sick offensive numbers in his 2nd summer league but Skiles and Vaughn regimes just wouldn't give AG serious burn at SF!

Enter Vogel, who will undoubtedly play Aaron Gordon at SF a lot more than Skiles and challenge AG to be a more well-rounded player. Will Vogel play the part for one of our up-and-coming young stars that Steve Kerr did for GS? My money is on AG, but I wouldn't be surprised if Vogel discovers something special with Fournier, Payton, Hezonja, Vucevic or Biyombo either! He's a very good coach, but I think he has a particular knack for developing SFs! (See Paul George).

With Biyombo, Ibaka, Gordon, Payton and Hezonja; and a better Coach in Vogel; the Magic find themselves in a similar stage the GSW were in when they had Steph Curry, Thompson, Green, Barnes and Bogut to propel them into the future. Two years ago we finished with wins in the 20s, last year in the 30s... and this year I fully expect us with a MINIMUM of wins in the 40s and will NOT be surprised with wins in the 50s! GO MAGIC!!!
