Aaron Gordon to participate in Slam Dunk contest

For the third year in a row, the Magic will have a representative on All-Star Saturday night.

For the second straight year, the Orlando Magic will have a representative in the slam dunk contest on All-Star Saturday night. A year after teammate Victor Oladipo competed, second-year Magic forward Aaron Gordon, who was left off the roster for the Rising Stars Challenge late last month, will participate in hopes of becoming just the second Magic man to win the contest behind former center Dwight Howard.

Gordon will have some stiff competition in the contest. Orlando's high-flying forward will be joined in the competition by reigning champion Zach LaVine, Detroit Pistons All-Star center Andre Drummond, and Denver Nuggets guard will Barton. LaVine is the only one of the group to have previously competed in the event.

It should come as no surprise that Gordon is getting set to take part in the competition. While he might not have some of the jaw-dropping posters others have, Gordon has shown to be creative, and very powerful in his in-game dunks.

If his double-pump slam off a feed from Mario Hezonja is just an appetizer, I'll be very intrigued to see what the former Arizona product can come up it.
