Frank Vogel arrived this past summer in Orlando with much hype after being relatively successful in Indiana, especially working with young players. But, somehow this hasn't translated to Magic.
Aaron Gordon has been playing in a Paul George role which is bad to look at as he is nowhere near a capable shooter, understandably, the Magic are in a bind with Gordon as they have Ibaka, Biyombo and Vučević fulfilling bigs positions, so Gordon is playing where he doesn't belong. But still, he gets the minutes.
Which can't be said for Mario Hezonja. I can agree, his shotmaking is terrible this season, his three point shot is not falling, but still, with the second unit he had some good games. Remember, he is still only 21 years old. As he started to get more comfortable in his backup role, Vogel suddenly decided to drop him off completely and give his already limited minutes to veterans on the team.
Hezonja is healthy, young, he didn't lose his potential just because he is not playing, but Rob Hennigan and his brass need to decide what to do with him. If Vogel wants to play with veterans then they should trade Hezonja for one of those veterans. There are plenty of teams out there who are more then capable of providing Hezonja with what he needs to properly develop. He is simply to talented to be destroyed by incompetent club leadership.
