As the Orlando Magic get set to take on the Atlanta Hawks late today, they'll once again find themselves without a key member of their backcourt. After missing Elfrid Payton for four games with an ankle injury, the Magic will be without Victor Oladipo due to a knee sprain.
Oladipo, who missed two games earlier this season with a concussion, suffered the injury when he took a charge in the fourth quarter against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday.
Losing Oladipo will be a big blow for the Magic, who have leaned on the shooting guards recent strong play. In seven games this month, Oladipo has averaged 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game, while shooting 49 percent from the field and over 57 percent from beyond the arc.
In his absence, new comer Keith Appling, who the team officially signed to a 10-day contract on Monday, could see time, as well as Devyn Marble, whom the team recalled from the Erie BayHawks on Monday. It will likely also mean an increase in time for both Evan Fournier and Mario Hezonja.
Oladipo's return from the injury will be dependent on how he reacts to treatment.
