Victor Oladipo put on a show in the 2015 USA Basketball Showcase on Thursday night in a performance that should excite Orlando Magic fans despite the defense-optional nature of offseason exhibition basketball.
Oladipo, playing alongside fellow Magic guard Elfrid Payton on Team Blue, scored 25 points with nine rebounds and five assists in just 23 minutes off the bench. The Indiana product shot 10-of-20 from the floor, including 4-of-11 on three-pointers and this impressive shake-and-bake of Michael Carter-Williams. Despite his strong play, Team Blue fell to Team White in a 134-128 final. A full box score is available on Team USA's website.
Payton, for his part, notched four points, three rebounds, and four assists in 18 reserve minutes. Fellow Magic guard C.J. Watson was scheduled to take part in the scrimmage, but as Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel notes, Watson had to cancel.
Oladipo and Magic forward Tobias Harris have been training with Team USA as part of a minicamp. Harris did not play Thursday, but was in attendance, according to Robbins.
