Following his tenure as the Orlando Magic's interim head coach, James Borrego may be bound for the Oklahoma City Thunder, reports Marc Stein of ESPN. Stein says Borrego and OKC have "had discussions" regarding the position.
The Thunder recently hired Monty Williams, the former head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, as the lead assistant for Billy Donovan's coaching staff. Now, it appears, they're eyeing Borrego, who worked on Williams' staff in New Orleans and alongside him with the San Antonio Spurs.
On Friday the Magic hired Scott Skiles as their new head coach. Skiles said he'd welcome Borrego on his staff. After the season ended, Borrego said he'd like the opportunity to remain Orlando's head coach.
Borrego finished the 2014/15 season with a 10-20 record at Orlando's helm. He replaced Jacque Vaughn after Vaughn's dismissal in February.
