We all have been kicking around different ideas for the #5 pick and who the Magic should take there. I'm the type of guy that once I settle on 'my guy' nobody can talk me out of it whether or not they have stats to back it up or game film etc. If i've done my homework and make up my mind that's it your my guy till do or die.
Last year for me it was Dante Exum I obsessed about how he would fit with the magic and that they had to take him...and then they didn't. I was distraught draft night. I'm quite happy now with our picks (I still think long term Exum will work out for the record).
One name I haven't been high on is Porzingis. Being a long term Magic fan every time someone says foreign player I unfairly get flashback of Fran Vasquez. Plus he's young and will have some growing to do before he comes in his own. I would rather have Stanley Johnson (I love his work ethic and stamina), Winslow has great versatility and WCS has some mean defense. But I just didn't see it in Porzingis.
Until now. This article is the best i've read on him with some good video too! I can see better now how I think he would fit, and my concerns about his size etc. are diminished. He's not 'my guy' yet but if he gets there i'm gonna be laying awake at night hoping he doesn't get taken before us, which is a real possibility with all the pub he's been getting.
