#5-Five-Cinco

We just landed right where we were projected, Number 5. The good news is that no one jumped ahead of us and pushed us back to 6, or 7.... or 8!. But I do see some potential shake ups that could affect us both negatively and positively depending on how you view some of the draftee's.

1 Negative-

The first three picks go: 1. KA-Towns 2. Okafor 3. D'Angelo Russell.

Then the Knicks, knowing that the Magic are in love with Justise Winslow, use that info to force a trade where we give up something of value for the 4th pick to lock down Winslow. They saw Henny get cornered last year and cave in for Payton, they are going to expect we'll do the same this year. Hopefully the Knicks, or some other team fall in love with Muddiay and decide to draft him so that we can land one of the players we really want.

2 Negative-

This is where things fall apart. The top 3 pick stay the same: 1 KA-Towns 2. Okafor 3. D'Angelo Russell,, Then it turns out that the Knicks like Winslow more than anyone thought, and they draft Winslow outright without offering us a trade. Then we're stuck with the scary decision of drafting a repeat position in Muddiay, or two international players. No Magic fan wants to deal with an International player again. UGHHH. Please no. I love Mario Hezonja, I do. But... Its just such a HUGE risk right now for us in a make-or-break off season. At this point I say trade down 2-5 spots and go after S. Johnson, WCS, one of the international players if they're still available(at this point the risk makes sense).

1 Positive -

Everything plays out for us and Justise Winslow (if he is really our guy) falls to us and we draft him, then ride off into the sunset toward a championship.

2 Positive-

One or two international players get drafted ahead of us and one of 1. KA-Towns, 2. Okafor, 3. D'Angelo Russell fall to us. LETS NOT FORGET, we are still in a drafting the BPA right now situation. IF one of those three fell to us we should be thanking our lucky stars! We would start either of those two bigs next to Vuc and D-Russell would be our Harden off the bench. But I highly doubt this happens... Guys gotta dream right?

1 Crazy Scenario-

The Knicks trade back to anywhere from 10-20, and we angle a sign and trade of Tobias Harris for their pick. I like Toby, he's young and he has progressed year in and year out so I don't necessarily like this happening but I wouldn't mind the gamble to save some salary cap for down the road. We trade Toby for that pick, and let Henny work some of his Magic (solid play on words) with that pick. My best case scenario for a Toby sign and trade however, ends with the Magic landing WCS, bc I think he is the one for-real-deal lock to be a good player no matter what in the NBA.

2 Crazy Scenario-

The player we want isn't there at 5, trade back to a team 6-15 for their pick and the right to swap picks two separate years down the road. Then trade that pick to the Bulls, along with our 2nd round pick for the Bulls pick and Thibs. I think that is good value for the Bulls. Its easily the most they can get this year for him. We end up with our coach, a first round talent and we win games the next to seasons and swap picks for the next two years with a team thats worse than us.

"This is a win-win-win, where we all win. Ohh" - Michael Scott

We have a few crazy weeks of rumors ahead of us, so a word of advice- take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

Go Magic!
