The Orlando Magic entered Tuesday night's 2015 NBA Draft Lottery with the fifth-best odds of securing the number one overall pick. They were awarded the fifth pick with the first pick going to the Minnesota Timberwolves followed. Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.
Team CEO Alex Martins represented the Magic on stage at the Draft Lottery. Martins took the place of Senior Vice President Pat Williams, who the team used as its good luck charm in securing the top pick in the 1992, 1993, and 2004 Drafts, along with the second pick in 2013 and fourth pick in 2014. Williams was still present, however, taking Martins' spot in the actual drawing room to see where each of the 14 teams who missed the playoffs would select.
Over the last two years, the Magic used three lottery picks, one via the New York Knicks in the Dwight Howard trade, to select the likes of Victor Oladipo and Aaron Gordon, and another to acquire Elfrid Payton in a Draft-night trade with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Orlando Pinstriped Post will provide more Draft coverage over the coming weeks. The 2015 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 25th.
