I saw this article on espn and it got me thinking.

I know that thibs is the hot coach that everyone wants right now ( he is quite the sexy beast ). But are the Magic better off looking elsewhere? I think the general consensus is that Thibs is a phenomenal coach, but he does have his flaws. He's known for having grueling practices and walk throughs that many former players have spoken out against. It's the same thing that makes him great, his belief that a championship team is built through practice and repetition. and we all know the accusations of him playing players too many minutes which may have contributed to chicagos injury issues over the past few seasons.
Are the Magic better off hiring Gentry? Or generally speaking, are we better off hiring an offensive minded coach over thibs? I think there is a very strong case to be made in hiring an offensive minded coach and here's why. I feel like we are a naturally talented defensive team. Hennigan has drafted players who were already solid defenders in hopes of them eventually developing jump shots. What we really need is to improve ( and there is more room to improve ) is offensively. I'm not sure if thibs is able to do that. I think the ideal scenario is to hire an offensive minded head coach, and keep borrego as an assistant for defensive purposes. I think he did a great job taking over and improving our defense last season. He also has a good rapport with the players already and could help smooth the transition with a new coach.
What do you guys think? Are we better off moving forward with thibs, or an offensive minded head coach?
