Two nights after taking on one of the league's best teams at home, the Orlando Magic face one of the league's worst teams on the road: Friday night they're in Minneapolis, where they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Tipoff between Orlando and Minnesota is set for 8:00 PM Eastern. Fox Sports Florida and ESPN 580 AM will offer live coverage in the Orlando market.
Orlando's last time out: In a game which was never as close as the 103-91 final score may indicate, the Magic dropped their fourth straight game Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. The big story in that game was how soundly the Spurs' bench outplayed Orlando's, outscoring it by a 69-12 margin; so big was that disparity that ESPN highlighted it in a tweet. The Magic got 24 points, six boards, and seven assists from Victor Oladipo in defeat. Lightly regarded center Aron Baynes paced San Antonio with 18 off the bench.
Minnesota's last time out: The Wolves' losing streak hit five on Wednesday in a 113-99 decision against the Toronto Raptors. Minnesota's promising young wing duo of Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins combined for 47 points on 18-of-37 shooting, but Minnesota simply couldn't defend Toronto: the visitors shot 55.3 percent from the floor and drained 13 three-balls in their easy victory.
The last meeting: Orlando squeaked past the visiting Wolves, 112-103, in overtime thanks in large part to excellent play from Aaron Gordon. The rookie forward scored six of his 17 points in the extra frame, propelling Orlando to its second victory of the season. Evan Fournier led the Magic with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting. The veteran sharpshooter Kevin Martin posted 21 points for Minnesota, leading all players in the scoring column.
