Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo was nominated for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, but it conferred the honor on Charlotte Hornets point guard Mo Williams instead.
From March 2nd-8th, Oladipo averaged 30.7 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, six assists, and 3.3 steals, leading the Magic to a 2-1 record. His scoring and steal averages rated best and second-best, respectively, among all East players.
Oladipo tallied a career-best 38 points in a losing effort to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, and scored 32 in Orlando's next game, a close victory over the Sacramento Kings. Those two scoring performances rank among the five best in his young career.
Meanwhile, out West, the NBA made the no-brainer decision to honor Russell Westbrook as the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard continued his recent tear: he averaged 40.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 11.3 assists on the week.
