The Erie BayHawks picked up a much-needed win Wednesday, topping the Westchester Knicks by a 106-91 final at Erie Insurance Arena. The victory brings Erie to within 4.5 games of the Canton Charge in the NBA D-League's Atlantic Division.
Orlando Magic rookie Devyn Marble struggled in Erie's win, shooting 0-of-5 from the floor in 17 minutes off the bench and tallying one point. Marble started six games for Orlando, but the team has re-assigned him to Erie to ensure he gets playing time now that Aaron Gordon is back healthy with the parent club.
Marble could use the seasoning: as our own Mike From Illinois notes, his Player Efficiency Rating and True Shooting percentage rank among the NBA's worst.
Austin Daye, who has 285 games of NBA experience, made his BayHawks début and scored nine points with four boards in 17 reserve minutes. The BayHawks claimed Daye off waivers Monday.
Despite the underwhelming performances from Marble and Daye, the BayHawks prevailed on the strength of Peyton Siva: the 24-year-old point guard tallied 20 points and nine assists, with just one turnover, to lead Erie.
The BayHawks' win over Westchester is available to stream, legally and for free, via YouTube. Their next game is Friday at home against the Charge.
