The NBA's trading deadline has come and gone, and the Orlando Magic have decided to stand pat and not shake up their roster. It's the second straight season the Magic have decided to stand pat in the trade market after acquiring Tobias Harris and Beno Udrih for J.J. Redick two years ago.
Over the past few weeks, rumors swirled that the Magic could look to move seldom used big man Andrew Nicholson and fellow third-year forward Maurice Harkless, who has struggled to find his way into the rotation on a consistent basis this season. The Magic weren't going to give the two away, however, as reports said they wanted fair compensation for both.
The Magic could have also looked to trade veterans Ben Gordon and Luke Ridnour, who both have options following this season. With Gordon finding somewhat of a rhythm as a scorer off the bench, and Ridnour being a steady veteran point guard, a team in the playoff race looking for added backcourt depth could've made sense for either player.
With the Magic standing pat at the deadline for the second straight season, they could be a team that looks to buyout, or waive a player to allow them to find a contending team to latch on with. Should they choose this route -- the same one they took last season with Glen Davis --the likely candidates would most likely be the aforementioned Gordon and Ridnour, along with veteran guard Willie Green.
