Orlando Magic waive Greg Stiemsma

The Magic's roster now sits at the league maximum of 15.

After trimming their roster down to 16 players just minutes after their victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, the Orlando Magic made yet another roster move, waiving veteran big man Greg Stiemsma. Waiving Stiemsma brings the Magic's roster down to the league maximum of 15.

Appearing in only two games this preseason, Stiemsma scored no points, but averaged 1.5 rebounds in just over eight minutes of playing time.

Waiving the veteran big man could be good news for Nnanna Egwu. Egwu, the lone standing training camp invitee, could hold the golden ticket to make the Magic's roster as their third center. While he doesn't bring a whole lot to the table on the offensive end, Egwu's shot blocking ability and strong rebounding instincts could be something the Magic cherish moving forward.

If the team chooses to hang onto Egwu, he would likely spend a good portion of his time with the Magic's NBA Developmental League affiliate Erie BayHawks, so he's able to get consistent playing time.
