Orlando Magic coach Jacque Vaughn has moved Aaron Gordon to his team's starting lineup, he announced before Orlando's game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Gordon takes over for Devyn Marble at small forward, who had started the Magic's previous seven games at that position.
"The start at the three will give us some defensive prowess, I think, from Aaron, his attention to detail, that'll help that [starting] group out for sure," said Vaughn. Defense is a focus for the Magic: Vaughn ripped his team's defensive effort Friday night after it allowed 100-plus points for the eighth straight game.
Gordon joins Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo, Channing Frye, and Nikola Vučević in Orlando's starting five.
Vaughn added that Marble will remain on Orlando's active roster and "will continue to do great things for us."
In three appearances since returning from a broken left foot, Gordon has averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12.3 minutes, shooting 75 percent from the floor. "Hopefully we can continue to put more minutes on him," Vaughn said.
Elsewhere on Sunday, the Magic also shuffled their active roster, deactivating Ben Gordon and activating Maurice Harkless.
