Orlando Magic's Tobias Harris donates $50,000 to Orange County Public Schools

The donation will benefit Nap Ford Community School, Howard Middle School, and the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools.

The week ending Friday had more than its share of bad news in the sports world, but Orlando Magic forward Tobias Harris capped it off on a good note by donating $50,000 to Orange County Public Schools at its annual Fore Our Schools Golf Tournament, held at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge.

Harris presented Howard Middle School with a $5,000 check, Nap Ford Community School a $20,000 check, and the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools a $25,000 check. The Fore Our Schools tourney, which featured 250 golfers, raised an additional $175,000 for Orange County Public Schools.

As the winner of the 2014 Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award, Harris received $100,000 to distribute to the charities of his choice. Friday's donations represent half of those earnings.

"That's for the kids and I appreciate this opportunity quite a lot," Harris told OrlandoMagic.com scribe John Denton.

Two members of Orlando's front office joined Harris at Friday's event: general manager Rob Hennigan and assistant general manager Scott Perry.
