The Orlando Magic have announced they've waived Jason Maxiell.
Maxiell, a 6-foot-7 big man, signed a two-year deal with the Magic as a free agent in the summer of 2013. The second year of that contract was fully unguaranteed unless Maxiell remained on the roster on July 10th. As such, Orlando realized $2.5 million in salary-cap savings by parting ways with the Cincinnati product.
In 34 appearances--including 13 starts--for Orlando, Maxiell averaged 3.2 points and 2.5 rebounds on 44.8 percent shooting from the floor. He played only 14 minutes across three games after January.
Earlier in the offseason, the Magic also parted ways with Doron Lamb, Jameer Nelson, and Ronnie Price.
