Saturday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves make their only 2013/14 season visit to Amway Center to take on the Orlando Magic.
Tipoff between Orlando and Minnesota is set for 7:00 PM Eastern on Fox Sports Florida and ESPN 580 AM in Orlando. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will appear at 5:00 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.
Orlando's last time out: The Charlotte Bobcats dealt the Magic their third straight defeat Friday, 91-80, behind a 29-point, 16-rebound effort from Al Jefferson, who excelled in the absence of Orlando center Nik Vučević. Victor Oladipo led the Magic with 21 points off the bench, and Tobias Harris added 15 points and eight rebounds in reserve. Magic big man Kyle O'Quinn shot just 5-of-20 for 10 points starting in Vucevic's place at center.
Minnesota's last time out: The Timberwolves also played on Friday night, but they succeeded where the Magic failed, defeating the Miami Heat in double overtime by a 122-121 final, with Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer splitting a pair of free throws at the 1.4-second mark of the second overtime to provide the final margin. Kevin Love scored 28 points and hauled in 11 boards, while Ricky Rubio posted a double-double of his own with 13 points and 14 assists. Chase Budinger came off the bench to sink five treys and score 24 points.
The last meeting: In the first game of its season, Minnesota outlasted the Magic, 120-115, in overtime as seven of its nine players reached double-figure scoring. Love's three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining in regulation forced overtime, while a three-point play from Nikola Peković in the extra frame gave the hosts the lead for good. Love tallied 31 points and 17 boards that night. Arron Afflalo scored 28 in a losing effort.
