In a radio interview with Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi, former Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy said he believes the current Magic team has what it takes to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
"In the Eastern Conference, Orlando's roster is a playoff roster," Van Gundy told Bianchi on his Open Mike program. "I've said that from early on. For whatever reason, they don't want to be there right now."
Van Gundy went on to say that he likes the core of young talent that general manager Rob Hennigan has assembled, and that he prefers Orlando's roster to that of the possibly playoff-bound Charlotte Bobcats. In fact, it could be on par with the Chicago Bulls', according to Van Gundy. Chicago has already clinched a playoff spot.
"I would say the Bulls have more experience in big games, but in terms of talent, there certainly isn't much difference," said Van Gundy.
