David Steele, the television play-by-play voice of the Orlando Magic, will take his talents to San Antonio on Saturday to call a Final Four game between the Florida Gators and the Connecticut Huskies, the Magic announced Tuesday. Steele will partner with color analyst Mark Wise and sideline reporter James Bates to cover the game as part of TBS' new teamcast feature, which supplements the national coverage of each Final Four game with a team-specific bent.
Florida and Connecticut tip off at 6 PM Eastern on Saturday, with Jim Nantz calling the game alongside analysts Greg Anthony and Steve Kerr and reporter Tracy Wolfson. That coverage is available on TBS, with the Florida-specific Teamcast featuring Steele airing simultaneously on TNT.
Steele joined the Magic in 1989, the team's inaugural season, as its radio play-by-play voice. He moved to the television broadcast booth in 1998. He's well-versed in Florida basketball, having served in the Gators' broadcast department for seven seasons prior to making the move to Orlando.
The Magic host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. According to Wednesday's Orlando Sentinel, Paul Kennedy will fill on for Steele on that night's telecast.
