Indiana Pacers to rest three key players against Orlando Magic, according to report

With the East's top playoff seed assured, the Pacers will give three key contributors Wednesday off when they visit the Magic.

The Orlando Magic will face a diminished Indiana Pacers squad Wednesday in the teams' regular-season finale, reports Dave Furst of WRTV in Indianapolis. Coach word Frank Vogel said Tuesday he will give Paul George, Lance Stephenson, and David West the night off against Orlando. The decision makes sense in light of the fact that Indiana has already assured itself the East's top playoff seed, with postseason play set to begin Saturday or Sunday.

The Magic own a 1-2 record against Indiana in the 2013/14 season, winning the most recent meeting by a 93-92 final when George, a two-time All-Star, missed a potential game-winning attempt as the buzzer sounded.

Orlando doesn't have much to play for Wednesday, having long since fallen out of the playoff picture. However, if it beats the shorthanded Pacers and the Utah Jazz fall to the Minnesota Timberwolves, then the teams will finish with identical 24-58 records and thus split their NBA Draft Lottery odds.

George is averaging 21.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Stephenson, who leads the NBA in triple-doubles in the 2013/14 campaign, stuffs the stat sheet with 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. West, the normal starter at power forward, averages 14 points and 6.8 rebounds on 48.8 percent shooting.

Wednesday's tipoff between Orlando and Indiana is set for 7:00 PM Eastern on Fox Sports Florida in the Orlando market.

With a tip of the hat to Eight Points, Nine Seconds.
