In his latest 2014 NBA mock Draft, Basketball Insiders publisher Steve Kyler projects the Orlando Magic to select Dante Exum third overall and Aaron Gordon 12th overall, via the WoNK pick.
Exum, an 18-year-old combo guard, dazzled pro scouts with his performance at the FIBA U19 Championships for Men in 2013. The Australian sensation averaged 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in that tournament and has eschewed the NCAA in favor of the NBA Draft.
In his freshman season at Arizona, Gordon has averaged 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 48.6 percent shooting. He's recorded seven double-doubles in 31 appearances, including a 19-point, 15-rebound effort against Stanford and an 18-point, 11-rebound outing against Washington.
In Kyler's mock, the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers make Duke freshman Jabari Parker and Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins the first and second picks, respectively. Those choices leave the likes of Exum, Kansas freshman Joel Embiid, Kentucky freshman Julius Randle, and Oklahoma State sophomore Marcus Smart on the board for Orlando.
Among the players still available when Orlando picks Gordon with the WoNK are Syracuse freshman Tyler Ennis and Creighton senior Doug McDermott.
Through Tuesday's games, Orlando owns the league's third-worst record. Should that standing hold, the Magic could pick no worse than sixth in the 2014 NBA Draft, which event is set for June 26th.
