Despite angling for an invitation to compete, Orlando Magic rookie Victor Oladipo won't be among the six participants in the 2014 slam dunk contest at NBA All-Star Weekend, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com. Instead, the NBA invited Indiana Pacers swingman Paul George, Toronto Raptors swingman and defending champion Terrence Ross, and Washington Wizards point guard John Wall to represent the Eastern Conference.
The West's representatives are Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, and Sacramento Kings swingman Ben McLemore.
When asked recently if he'd been practicing some dunks to use in the competition in case he received an invitation, Oladipo smiled and said, "yeah, I guess you can say that."
Though he won't compete in the dunk contest, Oladipo will still be involved in All-Star Weekend as part of the Rising Stars Challenge, an exhibition pitting two teams composed of first- and second-year players. That competition is set for February 14th at 9 PM Eastern on TNT.
