The experts at Bovada.LV have released a new set of NBA All-Star odds, this time focusing on Friday's Rising Stars Challenge. According to the oddsmakers, Orlando Magic rookie Victor Oladipo owns 12-1 odds of winning MVP honors in that exhibition, tying him for fifth among the game's 18 players.
At 3-1, New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis has the best odds of winning MVP. Damian Lillard, the Portland Trail Blazers point guard and reigning Rookie of the Year, checks in next at 9-2. Davis will play alongside Oladipo on Team Webber, while Lillard headlines Team Hill.
Among rookies, only Philadelphia 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams (8-1) has better Rising Stars MVP odds than Oladipo. They'll both suit up for Team Webber on Friday.
The Magic made Oladipo the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He's averaging 13.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, four assists, and 1.6 steals. Among rookies, those averages rank second, fourth, third, and second, respectively.
Despite Oladipo's terrific counting stats, the Indiana product slipped in the Rising Stars Challenge Draft between Chris Webber and Grant Hill, held on February 6th. Webber selected him 14th overall, making Oladipo the second-to-last perimeter player in the pool and the last player picked. A random drawing placed the four remaining players on their respective teams.
The Rising Stars Challenge tips off Friday at 9 PM Eastern on TNT.
