NBA D-League scores: BayHawks split against Mad Ants

Erie dropped its first game of the season Saturday, but still stands strong at 3-1.

The Erie BayHawks' season continued Friday and Saturday with games against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, with the Orlando Magic's NBA D-League affiliate triumphing in the first game but falling in the second.

Friday night, Erie standout Seth Curry popped off for 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting in 36 minutes, leading his club to a 99-87 win over the visiting Mad Ants. Not to be outdone, Peyton Siva posted a 15-point, 11-board, 11-assist triple-double with just one turnover. Rookie center Daniel Coursey chipped in 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting as Erie rolled, limiting the Mad Ants to 44 percent shooting.

The tide changed Saturday, however, as Atlanta Hawks affiliate player Adreian Payne stepped into Fort Wayne's starting lineup and rolled with 17 points, 13 boards, and two blocks. Andre Emmett scored an efficient 28 as the BayHawks tasted defeat for the first time in the 2014/15 season. Curry scored 27 for Erie, with five three-pointers, but got precious little help: apart from reserve forward Mike Schactner, who tallied 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, no other BayHawk distinguished himself. Siva contributed nine assists without a turnover, but scored just 11 points and missed all four of his three-point tries.

The BayHawks' season wears on Friday when they visit the Canton Charge.
