The Orlando Magic host the Washington Wizards on Thursday in their home opener for the 2014/15 season.
Tipoff between Orlando and Washington is set for 7:00 PM Eastern. Fox Sports Florida and ESPN 580 AM will offer live coverage in the Orlando market.
Orlando's last time out: The Magic fought hard against the New Orleans Pelicans for three quarters of Tuesday's game, but a barrage of Ryan Anderson three-pointers in the third quarter helped the Pelicans pull away for a 101-84 victory. Third-year big man Anthony Davis stuffed the stat sheet with 26 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and nine blocked shots. Orlando got 25 points and eight boards from Tobias Harris and a 15-point, 23-rebound double-double from Nik Vučević, but their contributions weren't enough.
Washington's last time out: Without rotation bigs Nenê and DeJuan Blair, who served suspensions for fighting during a preseason game, the Wizards fell to the Miami Heat on Wednesday by a 107-95 final. Not coincidentally, the Heat outrebounded the visitors by a 44-36 margin. John Wall scored 16 points and dished 11 assists for Washington, while Paul Pierce tallied 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals in his regular-season Wizards début.
Last season: Washington swept the four-game series from its Southeast Division rivals, winning each game by an average of 10.5 points. In the most recent meeting, Orlando built a 12-point edge after the first quarter, but the Wizards fought their way back over the course of the game, winning the final quarter by a 29-16 margin to score a 10-point victory. Nene came off the bench to score 17 points in 20 minutes, while Wall scored 10 points with 12 assists.
