The Orlando Magic suffered a blow during Thursday's practice session when Channing Frye, inked to a $32 million free-agent contract in July, sprained the MCL in his left knee during a drill. According to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com, there is "no timetable" for Frye to return to the court. Denton adds that the team hopes Frye can recover in time to play in the Magic's first game of the season. Orlando visits the New Orleans Pelicans on October 28th, fewer than four weeks from when Frye sustained the injury.

Frye owns the largest salary and the highest profile of Orlando's 12 newcomers, and projects as its starting power forward when healthy. He appeared in all 82 games for the Phoenix Suns in the 2013/14 season, averaging 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 37 percent from three-point distance.
