Magic at Pelicans: New year gets underway in the Big Easy

Orlando looks to open its 26th season on a high note Tuesday in New Orleans.

Coming off a 4-4 preseason campaign, the Orlando Magic open their regular season Tuesday night with a visit to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Tipoff between Orlando and New Orleans is set for 8:00 PM Eastern. Fox Sports Florida and ESPN 580 AM will offer live coverage in the Orlando market.

Orlando's last time out: Orlando dropped its third straight preseason contest Friday against the Dallas Mavericks, committing 26 turnovers for 35 points in a 117-92 drubbing. Tobias Harris led Orlando with 14 points, while Nik Vučević added 10 points and 13 boards on his 24th birthday.

New Orleans' last time out: The Pels picked up their fourth straight W of the exhibition season Thursday, also against the Dallas Mavericks, by a 88-85 final. Tyreke Evans scored a team-high 14 points, while Anthony Davis added 13 points, six boards, two dimes, two steals, and two blocks in just 21 minutes.

Last season: The teams split the season series, with each club winning on its home floor. Orlando drubbed the Pelicans by 20 in its home opener, but New Orleans got its revenge on January 26th in a 100-92 win. Davis dominated that game, tallying 22 points, 19 rebounds, and seven blocks in an incredible effort.
