If the NBA Draft were held Wednesday and the Orlando Magic owned the first overall pick, they'd select Kansas freshman swingman Andrew Wiggins, reports Chad Ford of ESPN in a chat he conducted. The three players rounding out the Magic's top four are Oklahoma State combo guard Marcus Smart, Australian combo guard Dante Exum, and Duke forward Jabari Parker, Ford says.
Wiggins, who turns 19 in February, is averaging 15.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists as a Jayhawk, shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and 31.1 percent on three-pointers. SLAM ranked the Ontario native the top prospect in his high-school class.
Through Tuesday's games, Orlando owns the league's second-worst record, and would thus pick no lower than fifth in the Draft were it held Wednesday. Plenty can change between then and the end of the season, however, but the rebuilding Magic at present look assured of a high pick in the most-hyped Draft in recent memory.
