Following their loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday, the Orlando Magic announced that they've placed Solomon Jones on waivers. The 29-year-old big man made 11 appearances for his hometown team--he hails from Mount Dora--since making it out of training camp, averaging 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds on 35.3 percent shooting.
Jones did not play Saturday and has appeared in just four of Orlando's 17 games since December 2nd. His minimum-salary contract would have become fully guaranteed if the Magic hadn't waived him by January 7th.
Waiving Jones and Hedo Türkoğlu, which they did Friday, gives the Magic 13 players under contract and thus some measure of flexibility with their roster.
The Magic were Jones' sixth team in eight NBA seasons. The former South Florida Bull owns career averages of three points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
