Free-agent big man Solomon Jones is set to join the NBA D-League, reports Gino Pilato of DLeagueDigest.com, citing "sources."
The Orlando Magic signed Jones, a Mount Dora native, for training camp, where he went on to earn the team's final roster spot "on merit," as general manager Rob Hennigan said. Jones made 11 appearances for his hometown club, averaging 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds on 35.3 percent shooting, before Orlando waived him to avoid fully guaranteeing his contract.
The Magic were Jones' seventh team in nine NBA seasons. He has also played for the Lioning Flying Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association. The 29-year-old has no NBA D-League experience.
