After he leaves the Orlando Magic via trade or waivers, Hedo Türkoğlu wants to return to the NBA, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com. Türkoğlu, 34, has not played in the 2013/14 season after he and the Magic mutually agreed he should not be around the team while it works to end their relationship.
As Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reported on December 24th, the Magic have until January 7th to resolve Türkoğlu's situation, given that his contract will become fully guaranteed for $12 million if he does not clear waivers by the 10th.
In the interim, says Stein, Türkoğlu has been working out on his own and wants to return to the NBA. According to the ESPN veteran, Türkoğlu "remains confident he can still make an NBA contribution and badly wants the chance to show it after the rebuilding Magic decided that the 13-year veteran didn't fit in with a rebuilding program."
In eight seasons with the Magic, Türkoğlu has averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on 43.2 percent shooting from the field.
