Basketball Insiders launched Friday morning, and along with it the first mock 2014 NBA Draft from analyst Yannis Koutroupis. In that mock, Koutroupis projects the Orlando Magic to select Duke forward Jabari Parker with the second overall pick, just after the Milwaukee Bucks take Kansas small forward Andrew Wiggins. Kansas center Joel Embiid, Kentucky forward Julius Randle, and Oklahoma State combo guard Marcus Smart round out the top five, going to the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics, respectively.
Parker, a freshman, is averaging 18.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks for the Blue Devils. He's scoring with ease, shooting 48.5 percent from the field overall and 39.1 percent from three-pointers on 3.8 attempts per game.
With the WoNK pick, Koutroupis picks Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis 19th overall on Orlando's behalf. The freshman is averaging 11.6 points and 5.6 assists to just 1.4 turnovers. Even with Victor Oladipo emerging at point guard, Orlando certainly needs a more prototypical playmaker that the position in order to play Oladipo at his more natural shooting-guard slot.
