The Orlando Magic announced Monday their plans to honor Horace Grant during Friday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. To celebrate its 25th anniversary season, the team has previously honored Tracy McGrady; Nick Anderson; Pat Williams and Jim Hewitt; Dennis Scott; and Pat Garrity on these "Legends Nights."

Grant is a key figure in Magic history, serving as a role player on the first great Orlando teams which Penny Hardaway and Shaquille O'Neal made more famous. The burly power forward did the less glamorous, but no less important, work of hitting long jumpers as a safety valve, rebounding, and defending.

The first 2500 fans in attendance Friday will receive a commemorative photograph, measuring eight by 10 inches, of Grant and Magic big man Kyle O'Quinn. Grant will also join Paul Kennedy and Anderson on Magic Live, the Fox Sports Florida pregame show. In addition, Scott will appear with David Steele and Jeff Turner on the Fox Sports Florida telecast of Friday's game. Tipoff against the Bobcats is set for 7 PM.

In his seven Magic seasons across two separate stints, Grant averaged 11.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 50.2 percent shooting from the field. In team history, he ranks tied for eighth in games played (411), sixth in minutes (14233), fourth in rebounds (3353), and fourth in field-goal percentage.
