Another key Orlando Magic player sustained an injury as their brutal roadtrip continued Saturday night, with Jameer Nelson spraining his right index finger in the third quarter of Orlando's 26-point loss to the Denver Nuggets. According to the team's media-only Twitter account, an x-rays on the veteran point guard's hand were negative.
Nelson posted 10 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in 26 minutes against the Nuggets. On the season, the 10th-year player is averaging 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists on 39.4 percent shooting from the field.
There's no word yet on Nelson's status for Monday's game against the Dallas Mavericks, the final on their Western roadtrip. Orlando is already without starting center Nik Vučević (concussion) and backup point guard Ronnie Price (sinus infection) due to injuries, and it played Saturday without Arron Afflalo (strained right foot).
The Magic have lost seven straight games. At 10-27, they own the league's second-worst record.
