Hedo Türkoğlu's days with the Orlando Magic are effectively, but not officially, over, reports Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel. Türkoğlu won't join the rebuilding Magic for training camp when it starts Tuesday. In fact, he won't be around the team at all.

"We've made an organizational decision to move in a different direction," Magic general manger Rob Hennigan told Robbins. "During the pendency of our buyout negotiations, we've mutually agreed to have Hedo remain with his family while we work toward an agreement."

Only $6 million of Türkoğlu's $12 million salary for 2013/14 is guaranteed.

A broken hand, a 20-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, and the "different direction" which Hennigan mentioned above limited Türkoğlu to 11 appearances in 2012/13, during which he shot 26.4 percent from the floor for 2.9 points per game.

Türkoğlu has spent seven-plus seasons across two separate stints with Orlando. He ranks sixth in team history in games played, fourth in minutes, sixth in points, fifth in rebounds, and sixth in assists.
